Library FAQs: Answer

Artificial intelligence, or AI, is a very complicated topic. Always check your syllabus when wondering if you can use it for your assignment, as instructors will lay out if AI use is accepted or not. Some options you may see are not allowed at all, allowed during idea creation, or fully allowed as long as cited properly. If there are any questions, always ask your instructor as well, as failure to ask and a lack of transparency may lead to academic offences. Many students have been asking about using tools to reword sentences or paragraphs and if this would be AI use. This is considered an Academic Offence. Once you give words to a tool, it uses its own words to recreate what you are looking for. This means the words are not yours anymore; they are the tool's.
