How do I find newspapers or magazines through the Library?
Last Updated: Sep 10, 2024     18

If an assignment is asking for newspapers, the best place to check out can be found on the Library Learning Commons homepage. Once here, click on the "Find" tab at the top of the page and a dropdown menu will appear. Click on "Newspapers and Magazines". This will lead you to a page where you can scroll through Flipster for magazines, or click a link to see the News Databases that the Library holds. In the descriptions of these databases, you will find some common news sources listed like "Globe & Mail", "Toronto Star", and "CBC".

Some assignments will ask you for specifically Canadian sources, and even list specific ones. This is a good area to search to be able to find exactly what you are looking for.

However, if you are looking for general newspaper articles, you can also find them when doing regular searches. Once you search for your topic, you can filter your results along the left side. There are many helpful filters, but to see just newspapers you will need to click on "Resource Type" and then can filter for "Newspaper Articles". See the example below;
